Soso Soberekon Offers Peter Okoye ₦500m to Fight Twin Brother Paul in Celebrity Boxing Match
Nigerian billionaire music executive, Soso Soberekon, has reportedly offered ₦500 million to Peter Okoye, one-half of the defunct Afrobeats duo P-Square, to face his twin brother, Paul Okoye, in a celebrity boxing match.
Soberekon made the eye-catching offer during Peter’s performance on Sunday night, turning what has been a long-running family and financial dispute between the famous twins into an unexpected boxing proposition.
A viral video circulating on social media captured Soberekon among the crowd as he raised his phone towards Peter, who was performing on stage, apparently drawing the singer’s attention to the offer displayed on the device.
The message displayed prominently on Soberekon’s phone read, “500 Million Naira to fight your twin in a boxing match.”
The unusual proposal comes amid the ongoing financial dispute between Peter and Paul, who rose to fame together as P-Square before their relationship and musical partnership became strained.
The dispute has also involved their elder brother, Jude Okoye, with Peter previously accusing Paul and Jude of diverting music royalties generated from the duo’s musical activities.
The disagreement between the brothers has attracted significant public attention over the years, with developments surrounding their financial affairs and family relationship frequently generating reactions among fans and followers of the former music group.
Soberekon’s ₦500 million proposal has now added a new and dramatic dimension to the saga, although it remains unclear whether the offer was made as a serious proposal or as a provocative gesture intended to entertain the crowd.
Peter and Paul, who were once among Africa’s most successful music duos, have continued to pursue separate careers since the collapse of P-Square, while their public disagreements have remained a subject of interest among fans.
