Echezona Street Vanguard Takes Otti’s Grassroots Mobilisation to Umuokpo Community in Obingwa
The Echezona Street Vanguard for Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has intensified its grassroots mobilisation and community engagement with a visit to Umuokpo Community in Ward 9, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The group visited the community on Sunday, August 9, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand its membership, engage residents at the grassroots and strengthen support for the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
The visitation was led by the State and Aba Zonal Executive Council of the Echezona Street Vanguard and attracted community leaders, party supporters, youth organisations, women groups, opinion leaders and other stakeholders from Umuokpo and neighbouring communities.
The Vanguard, which is committed to informing, educating and mobilising Abians on the policies, programmes and achievements of Governor Otti’s administration, has continued to deepen its engagement with communities across the state.
Through its grassroots interactions, the group seeks to bring government policies closer to the people, create greater awareness about developmental initiatives and encourage residents to actively participate in the development of Abia State.
During the visit, the leadership of the Echezona Street Vanguard reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Governor Otti’s vision of transparent governance, inclusive development and sustainable progress, while encouraging wider public support for the administration.
In a strong show of support, residents of Umuokpo Community pledged to support the re-election of Governor Alex Otti in 2027, as well as other Labour Party candidates.
The community, which has eight polling units, assured the group of their readiness to vote for the Governor and other Labour Party candidates and to protect their votes during the 2027 elections.
However, the people of Umuokpo also used the opportunity to appeal to the Abia State Government to pay greater attention to their community.
The residents said they had yet to receive significant government support and appealed to the state government to remember Umuokpo and extend developmental projects, empowerment initiatives and other government programmes to the area.
They stressed that Umuokpo is also an integral part of Abia State and deserves to benefit from the development agenda of the present administration.
The community leadership also expressed its willingness to host Governor Otti during the 2027 election period, providing an opportunity for the Governor to interact directly with the people and further understand their needs and aspirations.
The visit ended with renewed commitment to stronger grassroots engagement and continued collaboration between the community and the administration 
of Governor Alex Otti.
