Fubara Receives Wike-Backed Rainbow Coalition Reconciliation Committee in Rivers
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, received members of the reconciliation committee of the Rainbow Coalition at the Government House in Port Harcourt, in a fresh move signalling efforts to consolidate the political reconciliation in the state.
The delegation was led by Magnus Abe, Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and comprised members of the cross-party political alliance operating in Rivers State.
The Rainbow Coalition, backed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was formed as a broad political platform bringing together politicians from different political parties in Rivers State in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The meeting with Governor Fubara comes against the backdrop of the long-running political crisis between the governor and his predecessor, Wike, which had significantly shaped political developments in Rivers State.
The reconciliation committee was constituted following Wike’s declaration that the prolonged political disagreement with Fubara had come to an end.
The latest engagement is therefore being viewed as part of the broader efforts to deepen reconciliation among the various political actors and strengthen cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
