European Giants Hesitate Over Victor Osimhen as Injury Concerns Cloud €120m Valuation
…as Turkish Journalist Reveals Why top European Clubs are Refusing to Pay Three-digit Fee for Osimhen
Fresh details have emerged on why some of Europe’s biggest football clubs are reportedly reluctant to meet Galatasaray’s massive asking price for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite widespread interest in the prolific forward.
Respected Turkish journalist Mehmet Özcan has claimed that Osimhen’s inability to feature in at least 50 matches during the previous season has become a major concern for several elite European clubs considering a move for the Super Eagles star.
The revelation comes shortly after reports that Turkish champions Galatasaray turned down a €60 million offer from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur for the striker, signaling the club’s determination to retain him unless their valuation is met.
Osimhen has continued to attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs following his impressive performances in Turkey. The Nigerian international has been linked with potential moves to Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus as the summer transfer window gathers momentum.
According to Özcan, concerns over Osimhen’s availability throughout a full campaign have influenced the transfer decisions of top European clubs.
“Osimhen’s inability to reach 50 matches during the season is one of the reservations of Europe’s elite clubs,“ he said.
He further explained:
“This is what is preventing clubs from making a three-digit transfer fee investment.“
Galatasaray, however, remain firm in their valuation of the striker. Osimhen, who joined the Turkish giants from Napoli and has since won two Super Lig titles with the club, is reportedly valued at more than €120 million.
With several European heavyweights monitoring his situation, the coming weeks are expected to determine whether any club is willing to meet Galatasaray’s valuation or if the Nigerian star will remain in Istanbul for another season.
