Suspected Gun Runner Vanishes After Scamming Bandit Leader of ₦95 Million in Katsina State to Supply Guns
A suspected gun runner has reportedly disappeared after collecting ₦95 million from a notorious bandit leader in Katsina State with a promise to procure and deliver sophisticated firearms, sparking fresh concerns over the security situation in the state.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred in Matazu Local Government Area, where the intermediary reportedly received the huge sum but failed to deliver the promised weapons before vanishing without a trace. The unusual circumstances surrounding the failed arms deal have generated widespread attention and discussion.
The disclosure was made by the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Aliyu, popularly known as General, during an interview with NTA Hausa. According to the lawmaker, the suspect has not been seen since collecting the money from the bandit leader.
Aliyu alleged that the failed transaction has heightened tensions across the Matazu axis, claiming that a feared bandit commander identified as Kachalla Maha subsequently abandoned existing peace agreements in the area.
He further alleged that the bandit group has intensified attacks on surrounding communities by imposing heavy financial levies and demanding livestock from vulnerable villages, a development he said has deepened insecurity and hardship for residents.
The claims have continued to draw public attention as security concerns persist across several communities in Katsina State, although authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the alleged incident.
