Aba North Set to Host 2026 August Women Meeting, Champions Empowerment and Greater Opportunities for Abia Women
Women from across Aba North Local Government Area are set to converge at the Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, for the 2026 August Women Meeting, an event designed to celebrate, inspire and promote the empowerment of women in Abia State.
Themed “Women of Abia: Empowered to Strive,” the gathering is expected to provide a platform for women to connect, share experiences, strengthen solidarity and explore opportunities capable of improving their economic and social well-being.
The event, organised by the Aba North Local Government Area through the Office of the Wife of the Mayor, will commence at 11:00 a.m. and is expected to attract women, community stakeholders, political leaders and other invited guests.
The meeting will be hosted by Mrs. Nina Iheke, Wife of the Mayor of Aba North LGA, whose role underscores the importance being placed on grassroots mobilisation and women-focused initiatives within the local government.
Also expected at the gathering is Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Florence Ehuchie, Labour Party candidate for Aba North State Constituency, alongside other dignitaries and stakeholders.
The presence of Her Excellency, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, Wife of the Governor of Abia State, as Special Guest of Honour, is expected to add further significance to the programme and spotlight the growing conversation around women’s empowerment, participation and leadership in the state.
Beyond the celebration, the theme, “Women of Abia: Empowered to Strive,” places emphasis on the need to equip women with the confidence, opportunities and support required to play stronger roles in their families, communities and the wider development of Abia State.
The Aba North gathering is therefore expected to serve not merely as an annual meeting, but as a rallying point for women to renew their commitment to personal advancement, community development and collective progress.
