APC Completes Upload of 1,071 Governorship, Assembly Candidates Ahead of 2027 Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the successful completion of the uploading of all its governorship, deputy governorship and State House of Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development marks a significant step in the ruling party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections, as it moves to complete the administrative and electoral requirements ahead of the polls.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday, saying the party had achieved a 100 per cent completion rate in the submission of its candidates through the INEC portal.
According to Yilwatda, the exercise covered 56 governorship and deputy governorship candidates as well as 1,015 candidates contesting seats in various State Houses of Assembly across the country.
“I am pleased to announce that the All Progressives Congress, APC, has successfully achieved a 100% upload of all our 56 Governorship and Deputy Governorship, and 1,015 State House of Assembly candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” he said.
The APC chairman described the successful completion of the process as an important milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, noting that it demonstrated the party’s organisational capacity and readiness to proceed to the next stage of the electoral process.
“This milestone reflects the organizational strength of our great party,” Nentawe added.
The completion of the candidate-upload process is expected to allow the APC to focus more extensively on its political engagement and campaign preparations as the 2027 elections draw closer.
Yilwatda said the party would now intensify its engagement with Nigerians while highlighting what it described as the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The move is expected to form part of the APC’s broader strategy to consolidate its structures across the states, strengthen its relationship with voters and position its candidates ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
With the nomination process for the affected positions now uploaded to the INEC platform, attention is expected to shift toward the next stages of the electoral calendar, including further party preparations, voter engagement and the presentation of the APC’s candidates and policy agenda to the electorate.
