Former U.S. President Joe Biden’s Health Battle Worsens as Son Reveals Cancer Has Spread to His Bones
Former United States President Joe Biden is facing a more difficult stage in his battle with cancer, with his son, Hunter Biden, revealing that the disease has spread to his bones and other parts of his body.
Hunter made the disclosure during an interview with the BBC, offering a deeply personal account of his father’s ongoing health struggle and the emotional toll the illness has taken on the Biden family.
According to Hunter, the former president’s condition has become increasingly painful and debilitating as the cancer continues to affect his health. He described the situation as particularly difficult for the family to witness, given the pain and weakness associated with the disease.
Hunter, Biden’s only surviving son, said the cancer had moved beyond its original location and spread to the bones, making his father’s health battle even more challenging.
Speaking emotionally about his father’s condition, Hunter said: “I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good, the cancer has spread and further. It’s very painful… very debilitating. Cancer is really hard. It’s really sad to watch. My dad is, to this day, the centre of our family. He’s the best father, the best husband, the best grandfather.”
Despite the seriousness of the illness, Hunter also highlighted Biden’s enduring place within the family, portraying him as a devoted father, husband and grandfather who continues to serve as the emotional centre of the family despite his health challenges.
Biden first publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May 2025, roughly four months after leaving the White House. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, marking a major health challenge for the former president after decades in American public life.
Following the diagnosis, Biden maintained an optimistic outlook about his treatment and expressed appreciation for the prayers, messages and support he received from people around the world.
The former president had previously said he was responding well to treatment, while indicating that his doctors expected the medication to help control the disease.
He also disclosed that his treatment involved taking specific medication over a period of several weeks as doctors worked to manage the condition.
However, Hunter’s latest comments paint a more sobering picture of the former president’s health, particularly with the revelation that the cancer has spread to his bones.
The disclosure has brought renewed attention to Biden’s health and the private family struggle that has accompanied his illness since his diagnosis.
At the centre of that struggle, Hunter said, remains a father and grandfather whose role within the Biden family has remained deeply important despite the increasingly difficult battle with cancer.
