Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti Joins Eleles’ in Grand Celebration of 40 Years of Marriage
The Wife of the Abia State Governor, Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, joined the Premier Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, and his wife, Dr. Melody Elele, as they celebrated 40 remarkable years of marriage.
The Ruby Wedding Anniversary, held at the NOBIK International Event Centre in Aba, brought together family members, friends, dignitaries, community leaders and well-wishers to celebrate four decades of companionship, commitment, family and shared memories.
The ceremony was marked by emotional testimonies, prayers, reflections on marriage, tributes to the couple and the renewal of their marital vows, creating an atmosphere filled with gratitude and deep affection.
The presence of the First Lady added special significance to the occasion. Despite her busy schedule and numerous official engagements, Mrs. Otti chose to honour the Eleles by attending the celebration, underscoring the warm relationship and close ties between the Otti and Elele families.
Her decision to personally attend the event, rather than retire after her demanding schedule, was widely appreciated by the celebrants and guests, who received her presence with admiration and gratitude.
Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, who served as Premier Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area and currently a member of the Governing Council of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), reflected extensively on the journey that led to his four-decade marriage to Melody.
Earlier in the ceremony, the guest minister, Rev. Prof. Nzorta, delivered an anniversary sermon drawing inspiration from 1 Corinthians 2:9 while congratulating the couple for reaching the significant milestone.
The cleric, who disclosed that he has personally been married for 32 years, described marriage as an institution established by God. He drew lessons from Genesis 2:18 and 2:24 as well as Ephesians 5:25-33, stressing companionship, commitment and mutual love as vital foundations for a lasting union.
He encouraged the Eleles to remain steadfast in their love, faith and commitment as they entered another chapter of their marital journey.
In his testimony and vow renewal, Dr. Elelenta took guests on a nostalgic journey through the history of his relationship with Melody, tracing their acquaintance back to their childhood years and recounting how a friendship eventually blossomed into marriage.
He recalled leaving home at the age of 23, while Melody was 13, and explained that he had known her from childhood because she came from a neighbouring village.
The journey took a new dimension in 1976 when he secured a scholarship to study engineering in the United States. His subsequent encounters with Melody gradually shaped the relationship that would eventually lead to marriage in 1985.
One of the memorable episodes he shared involved an encounter with Melody when she had become a college student. He asked whether she had a farm and requested that she bring him vegetables from it. Her prompt return with vegetables, he recalled, left a lasting impression on him.
As the relationship developed, Dr. Elelenta approached Melody’s mother and expressed his admiration for the young woman, while acknowledging the age difference between them at the time.
Four decades later, the journey that began with childhood acquaintance had matured into a marriage celebrated by family, friends and the wider community.
Dr. Elelenta’s testimony culminated in an emotional reaffirmation of his enduring love for his wife, as he renewed his commitment to her after 40 years of marriage.
Dr. Melody Elele also delivered an emotional testimony, reflecting on the transformative impact of her husband and their life together.
She affectionately described Dr. Elelenta as the most handsome man and recalled a recurring childhood dream in which she would fly away with beautiful blue and yellow birds.
She connected that childhood imagery to her eventual meeting with her husband, describing him as the beautiful blue and yellow bird who came into her life in 1985 and changed her world.
Her testimony highlighted the profound role Dr. Elelenta has played in her personal development and family life. She expressed appreciation for his support, love and leadership, particularly as a husband and father to their five children.
As the couple renewed their vows, the celebration became more than a commemoration of 40 years. It was a reflection on a shared journey shaped by love, faith, family, sacrifice and perseverance.
The Ruby Wedding Anniversary ultimately stood as a testament to the Eleles’ enduring bond and the strength of a partnership that has c
ontinued to flourish across four decades.
